What is collected about your child, and what you control
Written for parents rather than for procurement. If anything here is unclear, that is our failure and we would like to know.
In order
Registration
Your child's name, age, sex and your contact number are recorded, and an ABHA health identity is created or linked.
Measurement
Height, weight and basic vital signs.
A blood sample
A small sample for blood grouping and a complete blood picture. Under EPIC, thyroid and lipid panels as well.
A consultation
With a paediatrician or general physician. Under EPIC, also dental, eye and ENT.
A card
Issued to your child, with their blood group, allergies and an emergency contact printed on it.
Four rights, exercisable at any time
You can decline
The whole programme, or any single part of it. Your child is not treated differently for it.
You hold the record
Not the school. The school receives counts, not your child's file.
You decide who else sees it
Sharing with another doctor requires your consent, each time, for a stated purpose.
You can change your mind
Consent can be withdrawn later. Ask at the school or contact us directly.
Answered directly
The emergency information, and nothing else
Blood group, allergies, conditions, medications and an emergency contact. Somebody who finds the card cannot see your child's medical history — that needs your permission.
